Placement Tests & College Entrance Exams

Entrance exams are often required when applying for postsecondary education, whether you plan on attending
a two- or four-year college or joining the military.
Make sure you understand which test(s) you need to take.
SAT

Students should begin studying and planning to take their entrance exams during the Spring of their Junior year.

Accuplacer

Students interested in Move On When Ready need to take the Accuplacer. The Accuplacer is also accepted as an entrance exam for 2-year and some 

4-year programs.

ASVAB

If you are considering joining a branch of the military, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is the military's way of assessing what jobs will fit your skill set.

 

The ASVAB covers a wide range of abilities, beyond just reading and math. ​

Taking the ASVAB is not a commitment to enlist.

PSAT/NMSQT

A standardized test taken primarily during your sophomore and junior years of high school.

 

PSAT/NMSQT – This version of the PSAT is for 10th and 11th graders and is used for National Merit Scholarship Program

 

11th Grade students that score well on this test can also qualify you for a National Merit Scholarship.

There are numerous websites to help you prepare for the PSAT, including sample questions on College Board
